Inola dominates Mannford on ‘Senior Night’

INOLA — Aaron Davis has proven night-in and night-out that he’s dangerous from behind the arc.

The Inola junior guard tallied a game-high 17 points Monday night to lead the Longhorns’ explosive offense past Mannford, 70-55 in non-conference action.

The win over Mannford improved the Longhorns to 15-8 on the season. Inola moves into the Class 4A District Tournament on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. against Hilldale at the Inola High School Sports Complex.

The Longhorns showed no mercy early in the first quarter against Mannford. Davis’ ability to knock down the outside shot, while his counter-part Travis Hall drove to the basket put the Longhorns ahead 17-7.

Hall joined Davis in double figures with 15 points and Taylor Mootry added 10 in the paint. Matt Largent also contributed off the bench with 10 points.

Inola stretched its led to 32-23 at halftime and then outscored Mannford, 38-32 in the final 16 minutes.

Garner and Mendenhall led Mannford with 15 points each.

Lady Longhorns 50, Mannford 37

In the girls’ game, Kristen Mootry scored a game-high 20 points and Stevie Rutherford added 12 as the Lady Longhorns cruised past Mannford, 50-37.

The win over Mannford improved the Lady Longhorns to 13-9 on the season. Inola continues its season in the Class 4A District Tournament at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday against Hilldale at the Inola High School Sports Complex.

Mootry’s outside shooting sparked Inola in the first quarter and the Lady Longhorns enjoyed an 18-12 lead over Mannford.

Rutherford got into the scoring throughout the first half and teamed with Mootry to be a ‘dynamic duo’ as the Lady Longhorns stretched their halftime lead to 31-23.

Lauren McDaniel, playing in her final regular-season home game, tallied nine points in the paint for the Lady Longhorns.

Both teams pieced together a sluggish third quarter as the Lady Longhorns continued to lead 39-29.

Sam Riddle joined in the Lady Longhorns’ scoring with four points, while Lindsey Byfield and Kylie Rue added two each. Courtney Williamson also had one point.

Burgess led Mannford with 16 points.
