OKLAHOMA CITY — The No. 10-ranked Oklahoma Baptist University Bison stifled the 23rd ranked Mid-America Christian University Evangels 92-59 in a battle for second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference Thursday night (Feb. 14) inside the Gaulke Activity Center.  The win lifts the Bison to 22-6 overall and 10-4 in the SAC and dropped the Evangels into third place at 13-9 overall and 8-5 in the conference.

The Bison played lock down defense, particularly in the first half by limiting the Evangels to only 16.7 percent (5-of-30) shooting in building a 21-point lead at the half.

After the Evangels jumped out to an early 8-1 lead, the Bison dug in as consecutive threes by Chase Adams kicked off an 8-0 spurt that put OBU in front.

Kameron Price then snapped a 17-17 gridlock with six points that fueled another 8-0 run for a 25-17 lead at the 8:58 mark of the opening half.

A free throw by Camilo Valencia and two freebies from Angelo Lewis brought the Evangels to within 29-24, but the Bison blitzed MACU with a 17-3 surge for a commanding 46-28 lead and OBU extended the edge to 50-29 at the break.

Valencia tried to keep the Evangels close by scoring the first four points of the second half, but OBU put it away by outscoring the Evangels 13-4 over the next four minutes for their largest lead to that point of 63-37 with 14:07 left.

Lewis, Valencia and Charlie Shorter each scored 11 to lead the Evangels.  Lewis secured a team-high seven rebounds and Valencia led the Evangels with four assists.

Adams led four Bison in double-figures with 23 points, while Desmond Griffin scored 18.  Price and David Johnson each scored 12 and Johnson tallied a game-high 10 boards.
