Roland eliminates Inola in 4A Area

McDaniel tallies team-high 21 points in season finale

MUSKOGEE — Though it wasn’t the finish the Inola Lady Longhorns wanted in the Class 4A Area Tournament, the season was still one to remember.

Under first-year head coach Tony Rosebrough, the Lady Longhorns enjoyed a long ride that ended with a 48-43 hard-fought loss to Roland.

Rosebrough guided the Lady Longhorns to a 15-11 overall record.

Lauren McDaniel tallied a team-high 21 points in the season finale, while Kristen Mootry added seven and Stevie Rutherford countered with six.

Roland opened the first quarter with a 14-13 lead and held on to a 19-18 margin at halftime.

McDonald paced the Roland scoring with a game-high 24 points while Teehee and Vann had seven points each.

Inola came out in the third quarter and outscored Roland, 15-9 to take over the lead at 33-28 with eight minutes remaining in the game.

Roland, however, rallied with a 20-10 outburst in the final quarter to hold off the Lady Longhorns.

Also scoring for the Lady Longhorns were Sam Ridde with three points, followed by Kaylee Peterson, Courtney Williamson and Lindsey Byfield with two points apiece.

On Friday night, Roland advanced to the Class 3A State Tournament with a 45-43 win over Muldrow in the winner’s bracket.
