OKLAHOMA CITY — The Verdigris Lady Cardinals gave it their all but Oklahoma City Millwood's Teanna Reid was hard to stop Thursday afternoon in the Class 3A State Quarterfinals at State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City.

Reid scored a game-high 22 points and led OKC Millwood to a 54-47 win over the No. 5 ranked Lady Cardinals. The loss ends Verdigris' season with a 24-5 overall record.

Reid and the Lady Falcons raced out to a 13-9 first quarter lead and scored 14 points in the second quarter to extend the margin to 27-22 at halftime.

The defending state champion Lady Falcons suffered a scare in the fourth quarter when Reid had to be carried off the floor after taking a knee to the mid-section. The senior guard would return to the court and lead the Lady Falcons to the semifinals against No. 2 Perkins-Tryon.

Coming out in the third quarter, Verdigris scored eight points to narrow the deficit to 38-30.

Baileigh O'Dell led the Lady Cardinals with 19 points and Stacia Payne added 10 in her final high school game. Courtney Risenhoover and Camry Collins also contributed with seven points each. Caitlyn Hanslovan capped off the scoring for Verdigris with four points.

For the second-straight year, the Lady Cardinals lost in the 3A State Quarterfinals. In 2012, No. 2 Prague defeated Verdigris, 62-45.

In the other 3A State Quarterfinal games Thursday, Perkins-Tryon topped Hugo, 57-47, No. 1 Sulphur rolled past Lindsay, 65-46 and No. 4 Adair clobbered Tahlequah Sequoyah, 61-39.

Today's semifinal matches have No. 3 OKC Millwood facing No. 2 Perkins-Tryon and No. 1 Sulphur battling No. 4 Adair.

The 3A State Championship will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at State Fair Arena in OKC.
