VERDIGRIS — When it comes to girls soccer in Rogers County, people across the state know about Verdigris, Sequoyah and Claremore.

All three teams are traditionally-rich playoff contenders in their respective classifications.

Currently, the three-time defending state champion Verdigris Lady Cardinals are ranked No. 1 in Class 4A.

Under the head coaching of Stacy Risenhoover and the senior leadership of 2-time 4A State MVP and Oral Roberts University signee Caitlyn Hanslovan, the Lady Cardinals are off to a 1-0 start this season. Hanslovan, senior midfielder Taylor Beck and junior forward Courtney Risenhoover join the Lady Cardinals’ team on March 24 for their road game at Claremore.

The three Verdigris players will be making their first appearances of the season, after a successful run through the 3A state basketball playoffs.

Sequoyah — under the senior leadership of Tulsa signee Tana Dake — is currently ranked No. 3 in 4A with a 2-1 record.

Dake and the Lady Eagles have impressive wins over Cascia Hall and Oologah this season.

Claremore — behind senior midfielder and Northeastern State signee Katelin Teter — is ranked No. 10 in Class 5A with an 0-1 record.
