Foyil falls on Homecoming

FOYIL — Foyil suffered a disappointing homecoming loss Friday night as Summit Christian up-ended the Panthers by a score of 64-14.

The Panthers had a strong showing in the beginning, scoring first with a 40 yard run up the middle by senior RB Dalas Curry. However, the Eagles responded on the next possession with a few big plays ending in a 10-yard sprint up the middle by senior RB Colin Crawford.

Foyil’s troubles started early as the Summit Christian blocked a punt attempt on the Panther’s 20 yard line resulting in a touchdown as the Eagles took the lead 14-7.

Crawford was able to score once more on a 20-yard run to the outside, making it 20-7 at the end of the first quarter. The two-point conversion was failed.

The Panthers answered back to begin the second quarter following a 12-yard run for a touchdown by senior RB Justin Chaisson, making it 20-14. With 4 minutes left in the second, Summit Christian QB Jeremy Pelotte threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to WR Zac Farrell. The two point conversion was good and the Eagles were up 28-14.

Pelotte later threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to senior WR Haden Farrell, who was wide open with just 25 seconds left in the second quarter. At the end of the first half, the Eagles were up 34-14.

Pelotte dominated the second half beginning with a QB keeper for a 60-yard touchdown, making it 42-14 after another completed two-point conversion. WIth seven minutes left in the third quarter, Pelotte completed a 60-yard touchdown pass to RB Nathan Hornbeak and the Eagles were up 50-14 following the two-point conversion.

The Eagles never let up and went on to score two more times on a 20-yard touchdown run by Colin Crawford, followed by RB Jake Ryon’s 40-yard run for a touchdown with just over four minutes left in the game.

Foyil’s overall record is now 1-4 with a District A-8 record of 0-2. Summit Christian is 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in District A-8.

The Panthers next matchup is Friday at Fairland.
