EDMOND — With Ryan Phillips, a former Edmond Santa Fe student/baseball player getting offered the head baseball coaching job for the Wolves on Friday, on Tuesday longtime Santa Fe assistant/pitching coach David Walsh announced to the players he was leaving to become an assistant to Lonny Cobble at nearby Oklahoma Christian University.

Walsh is to be officially on staff at Oklahoma Christian tomorrow and spent numerous years as Cobble’s assistant at Santa Fe.

Phillips held his first practice this afternoon at Edmond Santa Fe High School and replaced Jeff Shafer, who left Santa Fe at the start of the month to become the athletic director at Tecumseh.
