    Chris Johnson rounds out the University of Arkansas women’s basketball staff, announced head coach Jimmy Dykes today.

    Johnson was added to the staff as an assistant coach, joining Christy Smith, who was hired earlier this week, and Tari Cummings who is beginning her third season with the program.

  • NCAA MEN'S BB: Duke's Rodney Hood declares for NBA Draft

    Duke sophomore Rodney Hood is entering the NBA draft.
    Hood said in a statement Friday that playing for the Blue Devils and Mike Krzyzewski ''helped me grow and develop as a player and a person'' to prepare him for the NBA.

  • Tulsa hires Mizzou's Haith

    Tulsa has hired Frank Haith as its men's basketball coach after he spent the last three years at Missouri.
    The 48-year-old Haith said Friday that the move came quickly. He says he was contacted Thursday and got more and more interested, particularly by the school's upcoming move to the American Athletic Conference.
    Haith was 76-28 at Missouri, which plays in the SEC.

  • Strong makes Texas debut with spring scrimmage

    For the first time since 1997, the Texas Longhorns will suit up for a game without Mack Brown on the sideline.
    That Saturday is just the annual spring scrimmage hardly matters. This is Charlie Strong's burnt orange coaching debut, the first time he will put a Texas team on the field that has trained under his leadership, practiced his playbook and begun taking on the identity of the coach hired to dig the program out of four years of mediocrity.

    In a statement from the school, Hatchell said she did not know ''or understand'' why DeShields was leaving.

  • SEC MEN'S BB: Kentucky's Calipari awaits players' decisions

    Kentucky coach John Calipari has been too busy promoting his latest book to reflect on last week's NCAA championship game loss to Connecticut.
    Calipari must first deal with several issues, the most pressing of which is the futures of several of his highly touted freshmen. Some clarity began to emerge Thursday, when guard James Young became the first to announce that he will enter the NBA draft, leaving forward Julius Randle and twin guards Andrew and Aaron Harrison to decide if they will follow him as speculated or return for another season.
