Chelsea approves renewal of PSO agreement

CLAREMORE —

The Rogers County Election Board announced Tuesday the  results from the annual school board election involving Northeast Technology Center, Catoosa Public Schools and Chelsea Public Schools, as well as, special election results for the Town of Chelsea.
The following candidates won the open school board seats: Incumbent Justin Miller, Northeast Technology Center seat 4; Robert West, Catoosa Public Schools seat 4 and Mike Everett, Chelsea Public Schools seat 4, according to an unofficial report posted by the Rogers County Election Board.
Chelsea citizens voted in favor of a contract renewal with AEP Public Service Company of Oklahoma to maintain electrical services within the town’s limits.
More than 90 percent of the votes, 112 to 12, were in favor of the proposition, according to unofficial results. 
Chelsea Manager Kenny Weast said when AEP/PSO purchased Chelsea Electric Department in 1988, the contract stated a renewal of overall services would need to take place every 25 years.
“I was happy with the outcome of the election. AEP is a wonderful company to work with,” he said. “We’ve been very pleased with their services.”
Included in the proposition was the indemnity agreement between AEP and the town of Chelsea. 
Weast said the Town of Chelsea receives two percent of electricity sales from the Public Service Company of Oklahoma.
