Voter registration deadline set for One-Cent tax election

CLAREMORE —

The Rogers County Special Election is set for May 14, leaving citizens only a few more days to register to vote.
The last day to register is Thursday and persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma and at least 18 years of age may apply to become registered voters, according to Election Board Secretary Julie Dermody.
Persons who have never been registered to vote before not currently registered or need to change their registrations information may apply by filling out and mailing an Oklahoma Voter Registrations
Application form postmarked not later than midnight Thursday.
Applications postmarked after that date will be accepted, but those voters will not be eligible to vote in the May 14 Special Election, according to Dermody.
The election board will respond in writing to every application received.
The responses will either be a voter identification card listing the voter’s precinct number and polling place or a letter explaining the reason the application was not approved.
Any person that has submitted an application and has not received a response within 30 days should contact the election board, Dermody said.
Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the County Election Board office located at 415 West 1st Street in Claremore, online at www.rogerscountyelectionboard.org, at most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries. Additionally, the applications are available on the internet at www.elections.ok.gov, according to Dermody.
