Criminal charges were filed Wednesday in Rogers County against a Claremore man accused in a string of burglaries in Foyil.
Billy Aaron Lowther, 18, has been formally charged with burglary in the second degree, knowingly concealing stolen property and unlawful use of a police radio in connection with the burglaries at the Okie Mart and Smokie Dokie in March.
Both convenience stores had been robbed the week of March 21, with the suspects stealing an undisclosed amount of cigarettes and candy, according to Rogers County sheriff’s records,
Deputies connected recent complaints about a group of youth in Foyil neighborhoods with surveillance footage from both convenience stores and were able to identify two of the underage suspects.
Once identified, the two underage suspects were found and their accomplices, two other underage males and Lowther, were also identified and taken into custody.
During the investigation, it was found the group was using a police scanner app on their phones to monitor radio activity of deputies.
The suspects were placed in juvenile custody and Lowther was placed in Rogers County Jail.
