Homecoming tonight in Foyil

FOYIL — The stands will be full with Panther pride tonight as Foyil High School hosts Hulbert for Homecoming.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. with homecoming ceremonies starting at 7 p.m.

So far this season, the Panthers have roared behind the one-two offensive punch of running back Will Wood and quarterback Paxton Smith.

Wood, used primarily as Foyil’s all-purpose back, had 136 rushing yards on 23 carries and a touchdown in last week’s loss to Morrison.

He also had 23 receiving yards on three receptions and a score, and finished with 71 return yards for 230 all-purpose yards.

Through the air, Smith tossed two touchdowns and completed 8-of-17 passes for 86 yards.

Not to be overlooked, Foyil spread back Kody Sanders contributed with 213 multi-purpose yards and one touchdown last Friday night.

Offensively, the Panthers have tallied 238 points in seven games this season for an average of 34 points per game.

The Panthers’ defense, meanwhile, has allowed 160 points for an average of 23 points per game.

With Fairland leading the A-8 race by a game over Foyil, Hulbert isn’t far behind at 2-1 in the league standings.

Hulbert’s offense has also lit up the scoreboard with 222 total points, while its defense has held opponents to 179 points (26 points per game).
