BATTLE OF THE BRAINS: Foyil students place in competition

FOYIL — Several Foyil elementary and junior high students placed in the top 6 of each category last week during the annual “Battle of the Brains” academic competition, hosted by Inola High School.

The third through the eighth grade competition included categories in math, social studies, science and language arts. Seventeen area schools participated. Each school was allowed to enter two students per category, per grade and each student completed two multiple-choice tests.
“Students are together in a testing room and have 30 minutes to complete the tests,” said Foyil Elementary teacher Chrissie Christian. “Medals and ribbons were given to the top six places.”
Christian said this is the fourth year her students have competed in the event.
“I cannot tell you how proud I am of all of our students,” she said. “They all did so well and we have been complimented every year on how well behaved our kids are. Even though they didn’t all place, we are proud of every single one of them.”
