INOLA — A standoff ended peacefully Sunday afternoon when a convicted felon was taken into custody near Inola.

The man threatened to kill himself and others while sitting in a truck outside a home located at County Road 4240 and Old Highway 33.  The standoff was resolved around 4 p.m.

According to the Rogers County Sheriff’s Department the suspect was in his vehicle with a handgun to his head.

The suspect, who was identified as 37-year-old Danny Clare, told authorities he was at the home because he thought his runaway teenage daughter was there.

During the three hour standoff, Clare threatened to kill himself and the people in the house, said Captain Adam Hull of the Rogers County Sheriff’s Dept.

Clare eventually left his vehicle and threw his gun on the ground.

He was taken into custody on weapons complaint as he is a convicted felon. His criminal record includes drug, weapons and larceny charges.

Other complaints will likely be added including threatening to do bodily harm, said Hull.

Agencies involved included Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Inola Police Department and Rogers County Sheriffs Department.
