Projected fully-nude club near Inola raises concerns

The construction of a possible all-nude strip club, said to be located on the Mayes County line near Inola, has raised major concerns among area residents.
Construction is underway on the property, just east of Stone Creek store, although no confirmation has been declared as to what is being built. The property is within the incorporated limits of Inola.
Hundreds of comments on the Inola Net Working Group Facebook page display an uneasiness among residents who are concerned about the type of customers the business will attract.
Mayes County District Two Commissioner Darrell Yoder said due to lack of information, at this time, he cannot confirm the strip club rumors to be true.
“I have heard the rumors and I am aware of the protests. The county has no planning or zoning restrictions that would prevent the establishment,” said Yoder. “Those who are against it, should contact their state representatives and voice their opinions on the matter.”
He said he is not in favor of a strip club being built within his district; however, he does not know of any law preventing it from being built.
Yoder said according to public records of property transfers, the property owner could be Hai Ching Ying, owner of Sensations Premiere Gentleman’s Club in Joplin, Mo.
The Progress attempted to contact Ying with no success.
Yoder said he has been in contact with state representatives and is awaiting a response to determine if anything can be done to prevent the project from happening.
Inola Mayor Cheryl Charles said she has been told that the establishment will not serve alcohol, allowing it to be a fully-nude club.
“As the Inola Mayor or any council person, it is important to pay attention to what goes on near our fence line. Our fence line goes east to the county line, west to the river, south to the county line and north to about Ingersoll Ranch,” said Charles. “This fence line is the area that Inola can grow into. The corners on the west side of 412 and the county line are important to how the distant future may look for Inola.
