Due to high lake levels from recent rain amounts, Oologah Lake swimming beaches, along with all fishing docks in Hawthorn Bluff Campground and the Blue Creek boat ramp, will remain closed for another few days, according to information provided by US Army Corps of Engineers.
The majority of boat ramps, courtesy docks and fishing docks are open, said Oologah Lake Project Manager Allen Ryan.
“Lake levels seem to be dropping nearly one-half foot per day,” he said. “The remainder (of the lake) should open within the next few days.”
Oologah Lake is currently 8.5 feet above its normal elevation of 638.00 feet.
According to a notice from the Tulsa District US Army Corps of Engineers, all visitors are encouraged to use caution while boating, fishing or swimming.
Always watch children closely around water and ensure that everyone, regardless of age, wears a proper-fitting lifejacket.
