OOLOGAH — The Oologah Mustangs tallied 45 points in the first half and raced past the Miami Warriors, 52-13 Thursday night in District 4A-3 action.

After both teams played to a 7-7 tie in the opening stages of the first quarter, Oologah managed to roll off 38 unanswered points (including 28 in the opening quarter) to lead 45-7 at halftime.

J.D. Thomas put the Mustangs ahead 7-0 on the 65-yard touchdown run to open the first quarter. Miami, on the ensuing possession, scooted 93 yards on the kickoff return to even the score.

From that moment on, it was all Oologah.

Quarterback Zach Cantwell tossed three touchdown passes — two to Dalton Barnes for 33 and 24 yards — to spark the Mustangs' offensive explosion. Barnes also added a 9-yard touchdown run and Kent Sheldon caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Cantwell to close out the first 24 minutes.

Thomas tallied his third touchdown in the third quarter on a 27-yard run, ending Oologah's scoring.

Miami's final touchdown of the night came on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.
