Shannon Mayes and Keith Miles exchanged vows in a June wedding. The couple wed June 23, 2007, at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa. Deacon Joseph Faulds, of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Tahlequah, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Clay and Nancy Mayes of Claremore. She is the granddaughter of Clay Sr. and Dodie Mayes, and the late Roy and Elsie Stephenson of New York.
Shannon is a 2003 graduate of Sequoyah High School, and a 2006 graduate of Northeastern State University. She is pursuing her master’s degree, and currently works at Will Rogers Junior High as a special education teacher.
The groom is the son of Gary and Connie Miles of Claremore. He is the grandson of Wayne and Corrine McKinney, Eula Miles of Claremore, and the late Hayes Miles of Texas.
Keith is a 2003 graduate of Sequoyah High School, and a 2007 graduate of Northeastern State University. He plans to begin medical school in the fall of 2008, and currently works as a nurse technician in surgery at St. Francis Hospital.
The bride’s colors were shades of pink with black accents. Memory vases filled with flowers honored deceased loved ones.
Shannon wore a white, strapless tulle ball gown with shirred empire waist, beaded lace bodice, and draped cinched pick-up skirt. She wore a crystal tiara and held a bouquet of pink roses and peonies wrapped with white satin ribbon.
Nicole Mayes, sister of the bride, was maid of honor; Susan Wallace, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. Ashley Hartman, Amanda Tedesco, and Megan Purdum were bridesmaids.
Karli Morgan, friend of the bride, and Carsen Miles, groom’s niece were flower girls.
Tye Miles, brother of the groom, stood as best man. Groomsmen included brothers of the bride Clay Mayes, III and Cody Mayes, and brothers of the groom Brad Miles, Andy Zeigler, and Toby Miles. Sean Wallace, cousin of the bride was ring bearer.
Dustin Beck, college friend of the groom, and Shane McKinney, cousin of the groom were ushers.
The reception was held on the 15th floor of the Mid-Continent Tower. Centerpieces included pink roses and peony flower arrangements along with candles.
After honeymooning in Grande Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Claremore.
