Portion of 4180 Road remains closed for completion of bridge work

CLAREMORE —

A portion of 4180 Road will remain closed through at least Thursday as workers complete a bridge widening project on the south end of Claremore Lake.
District 1 County Commissioner Dan DeLozier said the bridge will be widened from 16 feet to 24 feet, creating a safer flow of traffic.
“We went from a six-ton bridge to now having a 20-ton bridge,” said DeLozier. “The bridge has been set in place, and needs to sit for at least 24 hours before we can start grouting and setting the new guard rail.”
He said he was hoping the bridge would be opened by Monday, however, with the Good Friday holiday, work had to be pushed back.
Grouting will take place tomorrow, followed by the guardrail installation and then asphalt.
“Safety inspectors will come out and make sure everything’s in order before we asphalt Thursday,” DeLozier said.
He said if everything remains as planned, the bridge section should be reopened to traffic by late Friday.
