Oklahoma CASA Association recognizes Sen. Burrage

The Oklahoma CASA Association recognized Sen. Sean Burrage for his dedication to Oklahoma’s children at their recent state conference in Norman. Angela Henderson, Executive Director of Tri-County CASA, attended the awards ceremony and accepted the award on Burrage’s behalf.
“Sen. Burrage is a champion of children, in both word and deed,” Henderson said. She referenced Burrage’s support of public education, anti-bullying measures, and both state and local funding for CASA programs across the state. Sen. Burrage also serves on the Board of Directors of Tri-County CASA, a position he’s held for more than 14 years. He was a CASA volunteer with the Cleveland County CASA Program while attending law school at the University of Oklahoma.
Burrage stood with Henderson’s son, Jared, on the Senate floor in 2011 during an anti-bullying rally at the State Capitol when the boy spoke about his experiences being bullied at school.
“I’m terribly sad that Sen. Burrage is choosing to leave the State Legislature,” Henderson said. “But his impact on the children of Oklahoma will be felt for many years to come.”
