‘Vision’ now a Reality

Safenet Services to open new center to help domestic abuse victims

Safenet Services, Inc. in Claremore will host a grand opening of the Donald W. Reynolds Family Safety Center on Thursday,  at 10 a.m.
The 15,836 square foot building will provide an expansion from a three-bedroom facility to 10 bedrooms with 35 beds.
Safenet Services provides services to families in both Rogers and Mayes counties facing domestic abuse issues and helping them build a secure and stable life for themselves and their children.
The new facility will be better equipped to handle the overload of cases seeking shelter due to domestic violence.
“This is all possible only because of all the community support, dedicated volunteers, generous donors and the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, we are reaching a milestone that has been a vision for 21 years,” said Donna Grabow, Safenet Services executive director.
The facility is located at 1219 W. Dupont in Claremore, and the public is invited to attend.
Safenet was awarded a $4,261,600 grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation making the much needed facility possible.
Steve Anderson, president of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation will be in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremonies, along with Claremore Mayor Mickey Perry, Claremore Police Chief Stan Brown, Sen. Sean Burrage, and Rep. Marty Quinn.
Tim Sotore, Will Page and Jason Temme from Key Construction were the builders on this project and Lisa Quinnelly from Kinslow, Keith and Todd Architects and Reed Woods of the Stonebridge Group and Construction Advisor kept the project on task and completed on time.
Since 1991, Safenet Services has provided shelter and safety to more than 2,500 abused women and their children.
In 2011, Safenet’s shelter provided 3,971 nights of safety to 91 families and turned away 361 women and children due to lack of shelter space.
