CASA of Northeast Oklahoma will be hosting a “Lunch and Learn” event and information sessions in Rogers County for those who are interested in becoming a CASA volunteer.

The CASA “Lunch and Learn” will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the CASA Office (658 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd) in Claremore from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A free pizza lunch will be provided to those who attend. Reservation for a spot is required. CASA has also planned several information sessions throughout Rogers County. The first session will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Soulful Grounds (112 E. Graham Ave.) in Pryor, OK beginning at 10:30 a.m. Information sessions are also scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Wonder City Coffee Shop (118 E. Main Street) in Locust Grove, OK beginning at 10:30 a.m. and also on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Green Eyes Coffee & Café (224 S. Brady St.) in Claremore, OK beginning at 10:30 a.m.

“These events provide CASA an opportunity to inform the public about the court-appointed special advocate program and also to answer any questions people might have about CASA and how they can help advocate for abused and neglected children”, explains Melissa Barnes, Marketing and Resource Development Coordinator for CASA of Northeast Oklahoma.

The mission of CASA of Northeast Oklahoma is to speak up for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courts of northeast Oklahoma. CASA promotes the recruitment and training of quality volunteers who work to Change A Child’s Story for the better.

CASA of Northeast Oklahoma is a regional multi-district court-appointed special advocate program serving abused and neglected children with volunteer advocates in the 11th, 12th, and 13th Judicial Districts. CASA of Northeast Oklahoma serves the district courts in Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Ottawa, Rogers, and Washington counties, as well as the Quapaw Nation Tribal Court.

More CASA volunteers are needed in northeast Oklahoma. The next training class for Rogers County is scheduled to begin March 7th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Claremore CASA office, 658 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd in Claremore, OK. Additional courses are planned in various areas of the region in the future.
