Fall has finally arrived in Oklahoma! As we kick off the season of family gatherings, the Will Rogers Library is celebrating a lesser known November holiday – National Game and Puzzle Week! Held each year during the week of Thanksgiving, National Game and Puzzle Week encourages family and friends to spend quality time together. The holidays can be stressful, and this fun-filled week reminds us to slow down and enjoy each other. Games are a great way to bond with family and friends, but for many it’s a lost art. If you’re looking for ideas on family friendly games and activities, or a reminder on how to play the classics, the Library has a variety of game and puzzle books in print and e-book available. So grab the cards, board games, and puzzles, and put some fun back in family gatherings!
The library has more fun activities for all ages planned for this month:
Get in on the fun of Adult Crafts!
Wednesday, November 7th from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm in the Multipurpose room. This month we'll be making cute Pine Cone Critters perfect for your Fall decorating. Materials will be provided. Sign up is requested as supplies are limited. Adults only, please. (See below for Family Crafts this month as well!)
The Friends of the Library will meet Monday, November 19th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. Join the friends for an entertaining evening, and learn more about how you can help support the library!
Want to meet others who are helping to save the Monarch butterfly? Okies for Monarchs will be holding a Monarch Meetup Tuesday, November 6th from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Bring your questions on plants, pollinators, and more to this free education series, and receive free seed packets for attendees. All are welcome!
Meet the Green Country Beekeepers, a group for new and experienced bee keepers in the Claremore and surrounding areas to meet and share ideas. Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month. This month's gathering will be Tuesday, November 20th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the Multipurpose room. All interested are welcome!
The Genealogy Volunteers are available Monday nights from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm to answer your research questions. This is the perfect time of year to talk to your relatives and fill in your family histories. Finding out more about your family tree is easier than you think with Library resources Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, and World Vital Records databases, and the help of friendly volunteers!
Stop by the Adult Coloring Club each Tuesday from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, and enjoy the relaxation and stress-relieving benefits of the adult coloring! The library will provide coloring sheets and coloring materials, or feel free to bring your own. Adults 18 and over only, please.
