Family Day focus on pioneer games, crafts

Family Day at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch on Saturday, Aug. 17, will highlight activities of pioneer families in the days of Will Rogers growing up on the ranch in Oologah, Indian Territory.

Stephanie Hunter, the Museum’s new activities and education manager, said Cherokee Nation will join a group of Will Rogers Ropers-docents in presenting Cherokee games and every-day family handwork and crafts.

Families, adults and children, can participate in traditional Cherokee games. There will be opportunities to make cornhusk dolls, learn how to quilt and make and taste butter from a churn like one used by women in the 1800s.
