Claremore’s West Bend Winterland returns with the arrival of the official 65 ft. fresh-cut Christmas tree, Thursday, November 14th. The 65 ft. Norway Spruce is coming from the Dutchman Tree Farm in Manton, Michigan. Our great partner, Melton Truck Lines, will depart November 12th with a semi and flat-bed trailer to pick up the tree and bring it home,” said Jim Thomas Claremore City Manager.
The truck will be coming across the Missouri Stateline with the anticipated arrival in Claremore somewhere between 10 am and 2 pm, Thursday afternoon. The load will be escorted by GRDA Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol on I-44, and Claremore Police Department will escort it through town making their way to the West Bend Green on the grounds of the Claremore Expo Center.
GRDA & Claremore Power and Light will be moving the tree from the flatbed with a crane and boom trucks to set it in the “tree stand”, an eight-foot man hole. “GRDA is a great partner with the City of Claremore,” said Tanya Andrews, Director of Visit Claremore. “With their support and assistance this operation seems effortless”.
West Bend Winterland will be a time of community celebration for families and visitors alike. The event will launch with an official “Lighting of the Tree” on December 2nd, at 6pm, “This is a wonderful way to spend the evening with family and friends to celebrate the holiday season”, said Andrews.
