A Power Ranger is coming to turf near you.

Actor Justin Nimmo, who played the Silver Ranger, Zhane, in the TV series "Power Rangers" in space, will be among guests at the third annual Pryor Creek Comic Convention, scheduled 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at 6 N. Adair Street in Pryor. Admission is $5. Kids 10-under are free.

The Power Ranger franchise turned 25 in 2018. Nimmo is a Power Ranger from Oklahoma. He was a state champion wrestler at Lexington High School before pursuing an acting career and now lives in Purcell. In addition to appearing in the movie "Pleasantville," he has taken jobs as a Brad Pitt lookalike.

The Pryor Creek Comic Convention will feature the usual type of convention attractions (comics, books, toys, games, authors, artists), but the 2019 convention will include a special music-related attraction.

Jim Halsey built the largest country music agency in the world in Tulsa. He has worked with 29 Country Music Hall of Famers and 10 Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. He has agreed to bring memorabilia and items from his personal archive to the Pryor Creek Comic Convention to display for visitors.

Halsey said he is bringing gold and platinum albums, four or five autographed guitars (one signed by Bob Dylan), stage wear (including the jacket Lee Greenwood wore when he performed "God Bless the U.S.A." at the White House) and interesting posters from around the world.

Author guests include Chelsea’s John Wooley (who will co-host another season of "Film Noir Theatre" for RSU TV), R.A. Jones, Robert Soul of the Tulsa-based "Ruined My Rhythm" graphic novel, Gene DeRosa, Bradley H. Sinor and Sue Sinor.

Other guests are cosplayers Honor Lychee and Kyros Cosplay, who will be among judges for a cash-prize cosplay (costume) contest. Panelists will include Dexter Nelson of the Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture.

A full-size Tardis will be on site, courtesy of Oologah-based Timelord Travel Agency, for photo ops that will benefit Make A Wish Oklahoma. "Celebrity" cars from the Oklahoma Star Cars group will be on site, weather permitting.

Three rooms, including a primary dealer room, will be populated with vendors. The convention drew more than 1,000 attendees last years. For updates about the 2019 show, go to the Pryor Creek Comic Convention Facebook page.
