With 12-years of experience and rave reviews under her belt, Leigha Charles has taken the plunge and opened her own dog grooming salon in Claremore.

Charles is the owner and pet stylist behind Classy Clips Pet Salon which opened this month.

"I was a college student and I needed a part time job. I drove by Clips N Bows and saw they were hiring so I stopped in. I started as a receptionist there. Then the bather got hurt and the owner asked if I wanted to learn that— it escalated from there. I got taught dog grooming and have been doing it ever since," Charles said of how she got her start. "I'm a dog person. It's rewarding. When dogs come in sometimes they feel crummy, or have tons of hair that needs to be taken off. I love how good they feel, and look, afterwards.

It's fun for me. I really enjoy it. I really, really love dogs."

Already, Charles' passion has earned her a reputation.

"Leigha is the only person I trust with my fur babies. She loves them as if they’re her own. Her grooming skills is beyond perfection" boasted one rave review.

"Leigha is the best groomer!! She loves my fur baby as much as I do. She always makes Gabby look so good, and treats her like a little princess and that means world to me. Gabby has been going to Leigha for 5 years and I would highly recommend her!!! We love Leigha!" said another.

Classy Clips Pet Salon will offer grooming for all sizes and breeds of dogs.

"No cats, though," Charles said. "I'm severely allergic."

She hopes to add boarding, doggie daycare, and a referral program soon.

Services are provided by appointment and walk in. Charles offers a military, police, and fire fighter discount. More information can be found on the Classy Clips Pet Salon Facebook page.
