The Rogers County Sheriff's Office was the site of a very special ribbon-cutting ceremony this week. Local government officials, law enforcement officers, architectures, and construction personnel, celebrated the completion of an entire reconstruction project of what used to be Claremore's Federal Building.
The Sheriff's Offices were recently moved from their previous location in the Rogers County Courthouse to its present address at 114 S. Missouri Avenue. The process was made possible after a grant from the United States Green Building Council, and funding from Rogers County Government Officials made it possible to completely reconstruct and re-design the former Federal Building into a new state-of-the-art facility, which houses Patrol, Investigations, Training, Purchasing, Administration, and similar Sheriff operations. As part of a project that was made possible by an effort of the Oklahoma Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design Council (LEED), the Rogers County Sheriff's Building was "certified" as Oklahoma LEED's 145th project. In a statement by County Commissioner Ron Burrows, attendants at today's event learned that Rogers County Government purchased the outdated Federal Building during a government auction and paid $130,000 for the building and its accompanying property. After learning of special funding opportunities, Rogers County was awarded a $350,000 energy efficiency grant, which was used to establish the new Sheriff's Office.
