Safenet Services, Inc’s longest standing fundraiser, Garden Tour, is getting a refresh with a Garden Party and Flower Show being added to the lineup. It will be a weekend of flower fun with the Garden Party and Flower Show on Friday, May 31st from 7-8:30pm at the Will Rogers Memorial. The Garden Tour will be the next day, Saturday, June 1st, from 9am-3pm.
“Our Garden Tour has proven to be successful year after year,” says Alexandra Seifried, Development Specialist, “we wanted to build on that and find a way to include more people during our spring fundraiser. By hosting a flower show, we felt we could incorporate more of the community and do something no one else is doing.” The theme for the Garden Party is “Kaleidoscope – Celebrating the World of Color.”
The Garden Party and Flower Show will include a silent auction of all flower show entries, and both individuals and businesses are encouraged to enter arrangements. The categories for entries are live, silk, and dried. The Flower Show entries will be judged by a panel before the event with first, second, and third place awards given to the three categories. There will also be a Garden Party Hat Parade and drinks and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. All proceeds will benefit Safenet Services.
The next morning will be the Garden Tour. “Our Garden Tour provides a relaxing self-guided look at some great gardens throughout Rogers County and has seen some amazing gardens in the 24 years of tours,” says Donna Grabow, Executive Director. “We’ve partnered with Master Gardeners again this year to help provide assistance and expertise to the homeowners as they prepare for their home to be on the tour,” says Grabow. The Master Gardeners of Rogers County will also be on hand at each of the homes on the day of the tour to identify plants and answer questions.
Some of the locations will include booths with items from Safenet’s resale shop, Second Impressions. “We begin to save items for Garden Tour weeks in advance. People are always amazed to see such a variety of items: jewelry and accessories for ‘Garden Gems’ and houseware and garden items for ‘Garden Treasures,’ “says Susan Wolfenbarger, Second Impressions Resale Manager.
Tickets are $15 for either or both events and are available in advance at Pixley Lumber Carpet Department or the Safenet office beginning May 24th. You may also purchase tickets the day of the event at the Garden Party and any Garden Tour location. Locations will be announced in the coming weeks. If you would like to submit a flower show entry, more information can be found at Safenet’s website, including the form to fill out.
