On Monday, Nov. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Whataburger is partnering with Claremore High School for the Oklahoma Blood Institute blood drive.
Donors will receive a free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit coupon, a chance to meet Whataburger’s mascot, Whataguy, and an opportunity to save a life. The Oklahoma Blood Institute hosts these blood drives at various high schools in the area, and to add to the fun, they’re awarding the high school that reaches the goal of 300 donations with a $3,000 scholarship. If Claremore High School wins the competition, they’ll be gifting the scholarships to two students: the student drive coordinator and the student who donated the most units of blood throughout his/her high school career.
This blood drive is especially near and dear to Claremore High School. Currently, two of their students are diagnosed with leukemia and a third is battling an aggressive sarcoma cancer, which all require frequent blood transfusions.
“Every two seconds someone needs blood, yet less than ten percent of those eligible to give blood do so. Every blood donor has the chance to help save up to three lives,” said Whataburger Field Brand Coordinator Amy Henderson. “All of us at Whataburger are happy to do what we can to help Oklahoma Blood Institute encourage donations and spread awareness in our community. We look forward to supporting the students at Claremore High School for this great cause.”
