Services for Melba L. Moore will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Dick Duck Cemetery in Catoosa. Melba passed away Thurs., July 2, 2009. She was 65.

Born in Tulsa on Dec. 14, 1943 to John T. and Audry Mae (Payne) Broaddrick, Melba attended primary and secondary school in Tulsa. She earned an associates degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in 1986. On Jan. 23, 1974, Melba and Glen Marvin Moore were married in Miami, Okla.

Protective and loving, Melba was devoted to her family. Church was also an important part of her life. In 2003 she dedicated her life to Christ. She was a faithful member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Melba enjoyed antique shopping with her daughter, Stephanie, fishing with Glen, bowling, and music. In recent years she exhibited great courage and strength of character as she faced health challenges, meeting each day with determination and grace.

An inspiration to all who knew her, Melba is survived by her beloved family, including her husband, Glen; her children, Nena Frow of Tulsa, Carolyn Cooke and husband, Randy, of Bixby, Stephanie Johns, of the home, who was selflessly dedicated to her mother’s care during her illness, and Richard Bowen, Jr. and wife Lyn, of Claremore; nine grandchildren; and her siblings, Vana Page, Thomas Broaddrick who donated a kidney to Melba in 1998, and Johnnie Mae Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Samuel J.L. Broaddrick, and her stepson Tommy Glen Moore.

In large part due to the generosity of her former son-in-law, David Frow, in 1998 Melba received the wonderful gift of life and great care at the University of Nebraska Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to that facility at The Nebraska Medical Center – Office of Development, 987421 Nebraska Hospital Center, Omaha, NE 68198-7421.
