Chris Fergeson, a 41-year old Joplin, MO., man was arrested on felony allegations of child neglect in Rogers County on Monday.

Deputies were dispatched to a Claremore address in reference to a missing child report.

The reporting party told deputies that the juvenile was missing and that she thought the father, Chris Fergeson may have taken him, according to reports from Rogers County Sheriff's Office deputies.

"I made contact with Fergeson via telephone. He stated that he was in Joplin, Missouri, and was trying to get money from his mom to make it down to the Foyil area to help look for his son. He stated numerous times that he did not have his son and did not know where he was," Deputy Brown reported.

RCSO's 15-member Search and Rescue Team, comprised of five ATV's, two marked patrol units, and 2 separate K9 teams, were activated, according to Deputy Brown.

Deputies report making contact with Fergeson multiple times and being told each time that he did not have the juvenile and that he would be there within 30 minutes.

"Chris finally admitted to investigators that he did have his son," Brown reported. "Investigators were able to find out that Chris told his son to start walking down the highway towards Joplin, and that he would pick him up. Chris later picked him up and had him in his custody the whole time during the search."

Deputies report that witnesses saw Fergeson dropping the juvenile off at an empty trailer.

RCSO arrested Fergeson on allegations of child neglect and interfering with an officer.
