Claremore police are still looking for three suspects involved in a series of business and home vandalisms in the Claremore area.
Two persons previously thought to have been “strong lead suspects” have since provided alibis for their whereabouts on the nights of the vandalisms, although police have not yet ruled them out as “persons of interest.”
“Early on, we had two people — two male suspects — that we were looking at, whom we felt confident that were the persons responsible (for the vandalism) or involved, at least,” said Charles Downum, assistant chief, Claremore Police Department. “Further investigation (of these suspects) ruled them out for the time being, but for now, they are still considered persons of interest.”
Police are still looking for at least three male suspects who were seen on video surveillance at a Claremore used auto dealership, slashing tires, breaking and removing mirrors and antennas and committing similar acts of vandalism.
These same suspects are thought to be responsible in a recent string of vandalisms, including those at two car lots, a coffee shop, a U-Haul business, a flea market and several nearby homes.
“We’ve really been inundated with tips (on the suspects), but we’re still welcoming anyone who might have information on these crimes to contact us,” Downum said. “We would also advise local home and business owners to take extra precautions if possible to safeguard themselves and their property.”
Persons who may have any information regarding the weekend vandalisms at Chris Pruitt Auto Sales or other crimes are encouraged to contact the Claremore Police Department at 918-341-1212.
