Construction is expected to start this week on a new apartment building specifically for senior citizens, age 55 and over.
The Oakland Estates apartment complex, developed by MACO Development Company, L.L.C., is a series of one bed, one bath apartments, all around 700 square feet.
“Claremore is a strong market for affordable senior apartments,” said MACO Executive Vice President Daniel Sanders, quoting a professional market study the company completed. “Quality, safe, affordable homes for senior residents benefit a community by keeping its senior residents and attracting new senior residents into the city.”
“The addition of senior-focused housing in Claremore helps meets a need voiced by the community residents over the last several years,” said Claremore City Planner Jill Ferenc. “In the development of Claremore Dreams 2025 and the Claremore 2040 Comprehensive Plan, the City of Claremore heard consistent feedback from community residents that we need more housing options for seniors. Affordable senior living provides access to housing options that help people live and thrive here in Claremore.”
