Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Northeast Oklahoma has issued a year-end appeal for much-needed volunteers and financial support.

Each year children in Claremore and Rogers County are taken from their homes because of abuse and neglect, according to a press release. They are uprooted from the only family they've known, taken out of schools and away from friends. In short, their worlds are turned upside down.

That's where CASA of Northeast Oklahoma comes in.

CASA's mission is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in district and tribal courts in northeast Oklahoma. The organization promotes and supports quality volunteer representation for children, providing each child with a safe, permanent and nurturing home. CASA believes every child who experiences abuse or neglect should have a CASA volunteer appointed to represent his or her best interest.

To achieve their mission they need the public's help.

Volunteers are neighbors, at least 21 years of age, who train to be court-appointed child advocates. These volunteers take time to get to know the child and his or her circumstances and attend court to provide an independent voice for each child when decisions are being made about his or her future. CASA volunteers are an important part of the juvenile justice process and act as appointed friends of the court.

Financial donations will be used to recruit, train and support volunteers. All donations are tax-deductible. CASA of Northeast Oklahoma offers a text-to-give option. Just text "CASA" to (918) 228-6878.

Help CASA of Northeast Oklahoma achieve its vision of a world where every abused and neglected child has a CASA volunteer appointed to represent his or her best interests, a world where all children have a safe, permanent home and where children experience improved wellbeing.
