Lt. Mark Book’s new badge and ranks were pinned on by his wife Jennifer, daughter Brittany and with the emotional support of his grandson Dallas. Mayor Bill Flanagan and City Manager Jim Thomas served as witnesses for the promotion.

Claremore police officer Mark Book was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant at Monday’s meeting of the Claremore city council.

Book was awarded the promotion by Claremore Police Chief Stan Brown and had his new badge and rank pinned on by his wife and daughter.

Quoting Winston Churchill, Brown said, “Things are not always right because they are hard, but if they are right, one must not mind if they are hard.”

“I want to encourage you to take those words to heart as you move forward within our agency and within your career,” Brown said. “Remember that you are now in a position of leadership. You’ll be faced with many decisions going forward that are hard. Always take the right path.”
