The city of Claremore recently issued this statement regarding water and water quality in Claremore: "Recently, the City’s Public Works Department has experienced an increase in water line breaks due to the extreme heat. We have also noticed an increase in manganese levels at Claremore Lake. Our crews have been working to respond and fix these issues. Manganese, a naturally occurring mineral, can gather in pockets of higher concentration within our water source. These areas of higher concentration have made their way to the water plant. Our staff is adjusting protocols to address these occurrences. While manganese does not pose a public health risk at these slightly elevated levels, it can cause discolored water.
If you notice any such discoloration (due to line breaks or slightly elevated manganese), please attempt to flush your lines by running faucets for a few minutes. If that does not remedy the issue, please call 918-341-0457, extension 286, so we can flush the lines in your area. If you reach our voice mail, please leave a message with your issue and address and we will send out a crew to your area."
