A Rogers County couple has been arrested on allegations of child neglect.
Gene Bowles, 40, and Nina Baquera, 25, both of Claremore, were arrested on felony allegations by Claremore Police Department yesterday.
Police were informed by Department of Human Services that there were four adults living in a home with five juvenile children, according to police records.
"They received information that the adults were allowing the children to ingest marijuana," reported CPD Investigator Brant Bruner, adding that the children ranged in age from two to 11 years old.
One of the adults reportedly told officers that the marijuana "helps the children calm down" and that all of the adults in the house knew the children were smoking and that she "wanted to get medical marijuana cards but they could not afford them."
Bruner reported that, "The woman told me the adults act responsibly when they give the children marijuana and they agreed that at least two adults would stay sober when the children inputs the drug."
Bruner added that no one living in the residence had a medical marijuana card.
This is an arrest only as charges have not yet been filed in Rogers County District Court.
