The Oklahoma Professional Chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (OPC AISES) elected new officers in 2018.
Dr. Cara Cowan Watts, CEO of Tulsa Pier Drilling in Claremore, OK, was elected President of OPC AISES. Dr. Cowan Watts is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and has degrees in diverse engineering disciplines.
Chrystal Antao, CEO of Cherokee Data Solutions in Claremore, OK, was elected Vice-President of OPC AISES. Chrystal is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and has a Bachelors in Biological Sciences.
Melissa Sturdivant, USDA NRCS State Tribal Liaison and Soil Conservationist in Goldthwaite, TX, was appointed Secretary. Melissa is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation and has a Masters in Soil Science and Agronomy.
Dr. Carol Crouch, USDA NRCS State Tribal Liaison for Oklahoma in Stillwater, OK, was elected Treasurer. Dr. Crouch is a citizen of Salish Kootenai and a PhD in Biosystems Engineering.
Lynnetta Eyachabbe, IT Analyst at University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK and OU AISES College Chapter Advisor, was elected Parliamentarian. Lynnetta is a citizen of the Euchee and Muscogee Creek Nations.
OPC AISES primarily meets by conference call in order to serve the entire State of Oklahoma and the surrounding AISES Region 4 which includes Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas. Physical meetings are typically tied to the annual National AISES Conference and the upcoming annual National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair (NAISEF) to be held at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is the site of the 2019 National Conference on October 10 through 12.
OPC AISES is focused on volunteering and serving the Native students of Oklahoma in order to strengthen the next generation of Natives in science, technology, engineering, and math fields as productive employees and business owners.
