Helping troops overseas is a high priority for Claremore women Sara Moss, Vicki Boyd, and Amanda Moreland — and you can take that to the bank.
As all women are employees of RCB Bank, the women have volunteered to assist Rogers County Blue Star Mothers in raising awareness of and funding to help local troops serving or to serve overseas.
“As important a cause as this is, we have several employees here who have family members in the service, so this is a very personal cause for many the people here,” said Sara Moss, RCB Bank employee.
At the donation sites, located at RCB Branches, including the branch in Catoosa, stations have been set up to tell the stories of those currently serving or who have served, as well as opportunities to donate cash or items.
Some locations have “Angel Trees,” on which soldier’s wish list items are attached, as well as a full list of “wish” items from the Blue Star Mothers.
Among items commonly found on wish lists are disposable razors, travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, eyewash, lip balm or Chapstick, hand sanitizer, foot powder, dental floss, AA and AAA batteries, mosquito repellent coils, and more, all of which, once collected, are packaged and sent overseas to American troops.
Rogers County Blue Star Mothers is an organization comprised of mothers of members of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
Moss said the donation stations will be on display at the various bank branches through Monday, July 3.
