Charges have been filed against a local woman accused of embezzling funds from the Chelsea Boys and Girls Club.
Rogers County District Court records show felony charges were filed against April Lockhart this week.
Investigator Wayne Stinnett, chief investigator with the district attorney’s office, reports that Lockhart misappropriated more than $2,000 during her employment which resulted in several financial and operational problems for the Boys and Girls Club.
Stinnett reports that Lockhart issued unauthorized bonus checks to herself as well as over-paying herself on multiple occasions.
In an interview with Stinnett, Lockhart reportedly said she went months without a paycheck and that the double payments “could have been due to back pay.”
Lockhart reportedly also told the investigators that the overpayment may have been a miscalculation and that when the club didn’t have funds, she paid the utilities for them. She is quoted in telling investigators that she felt she had been taken advantage of by the Boys and Girls Club and that she felt she was owed money by them since she had given money to them.
