A Rogers County youth was admitted to a Tulsa Hospital yesterday afternoon, following a single-vehicle collision.

According to the report of OHP Trooper Ron Hamilton, 18-year-old Ryan Evans of Claremore was westbound in a 1986 Chevrolet on a county road near Foyil at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday.

With Evans was 15-year-old Lauren Halliburton, also of Claremore.

Hamilton’s report indicated Evans was traveling at “a high rate of speed” when he failed to negotiate a curve and his vehicle ran off the right side of the road, striking a tree.

Evans was pinned for a total of 45 minutes before being freed and transported by Life Flight Air Ambulance to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in serious condition with head, trunk internal and leg injuries.

Halliburton as transported to Claremore Regional Hospital with head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries, where she was admitted in stable condition.

Evans and Hamilton were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
