Monday night, officers were dispatched to the Quail Run Drive in Claremore on reports of shots heard.

“In the area officers find spent shell casings,” said Deputy Chief Steve Cox. “This was a shootout, two sides firing at each other. We talked to one half of this situation. We are still investigating that. We have not identified the second half. This was a drug deal that ended in a shootout.”

Cox said as of Tuesday afternoon no arrests have been made.

“No innocent people were injured, but this shootout put innocent people in danger in this neighborhood. There were several houses that were hit by gunfire, several houses with small children,” Cox said. “Luckily no one was hurt, but they could have been.”

Anyone with video or other information is asked to contact Claremore Police Department via email at investigations@claremorecity.com or the anonymous tipline 918-283-8255 or by calling the department’s main non-emergency number.
