For 25 years, the Rogers County School Supply Program has been providing school supplies for needy school children throughout the county. Because of generous donations, 2,162 county students received the required supplies for a total cost $36,426.50 in the 2021-2022 school year,

This totally nonprofit program helped the following Rogers County students get off to a good start: Catoosa – 138; Chelsea – 195; Claremore – 995; Foyil – 189, Inola – 68; Justus-Tiawah – 99; Oologah – 165; Sequoyah – 212; Verdigris – 101.

The First United Methodist Church in Claremore has sponsored and coordinated the program since its inception in 1997. It is funded by contributions from church members as well as other area churches, businesses, civic organizations, and individuals.

“For the church to continue this program for 2022-2023, we need your continued support,” says Ray Dawson, Team Leader. “We appreciate your help and hope you believe, as we at Claremore FUMC do, that one of the best investments we can make is in the education of our children because they our are future.”

If you can give, please make your checks payable to the First United Methodist Church with a notation in the memo line “school supplies.” Please know that when you donate to this program, you are not giving to any church or religious organization: you are giving school supplies to needy Rogers County children.

“When you give to this program, be assured that every penny goes to buy school supplies at the best possible price.” Dawson said. “We use a bid sheet and buy from several suppliers that offer the best prices. Volunteers do all the work. We have use of the church’s Children’s Center to pack and distribute the supplies. We also use church stationery for this mailing at no cost to the program. If we don’t spend all the money, it is held in a special account for use on supplies for the next school year.”
