The phone scam being perpetrated in Rogers County may, at first, seem plausible according to Rogers County Sheriff's Office.
RCSO is warning the community of an ongoing scam in which the caller impersonates a current deputy with RCSO.
"The individual calls stating he is Sgt. Bronson Smith with the Rogers County Sheriff's Office and says that you may have a warrant for your arrest and that if you do not pay the fines or fees that you will be arrested," explained RCSO. "Although Sgt. Smith is an actual employee of the sheriff's office, this is not him or our office contacting individuals."
RCSO advised against providing any personal information over the phone if you do not know the person you are speaking with.
They said anyone who experiences such a call, or similar scam, should notify local law enforcement.
