The Oologah Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the Pioneer Days Celebration. This year it will be held on Saturday, May 29th. We chose this date in hopes that those attending graduation on Friday night may choose to stick around and celebrate and catch up with old friends and family. We also hope that everyone will enjoy “community” and make some new friends!
We thank The Chamber and its volunteers for making this exciting event come to life with little to no budget. The events will be as follows:
Pioneer Day May 29th
• 7:30-9:30AM Event set up. By this time all vehicles need to be off the street and in parking areas.
• 10:00AM Parade- Grand Marshall Travis Meyer from Channel 6 News
• 10:00AM-5:00PM Vendors, Food, and Games
• 1:00PM Community tik tok to be taught and filmed. Led BY OTHS Cheer Squad.
• 5:00PM Shut down for vendors and clean up for street dance.
• 7:00PM-11:00PM Street dance. Makayla Gaylord
*Harbor Coffee and El Gavan will stay open during event
*Oologah First Baptist Church will give away hot dogs and drinks during the street dance.
We are excited to announce that Travis Meyer will join us as Grand Marshall of our parade. It has been 30 years since tornadoes ripped through Oologah and brought us together as a community to overcome and rebuild. We thought he would be a fitting tribute to our celebration.
We are also pleased that we had such a large turnout and commitment for our parade. We have groups from the community and school that will be coming together to celebrate accomplishments as well as demonstrate what their club or organization has to offer our community.
The Cheer squad will also be giving our celebration a modern touch with a “Community Wide Tik Tok.” We hope our young and old and everyone in between will come together at 1pm on the 29th to learn a short dance and then film it for Tik Tok, a fun and silly way for the generations to collide.
During the day, enjoy food from our featured food trucks, vendors of all ages and trades, and many street games and activities that will including things like face painting, dunk tanks, dessert walk, and many more.
Lastly, we are beyond excited that we were able to secure a band for a street dance. You asked, and we were able to deliver thanks to generous donations from OUR COMMUNITY!
Miss Makayla Gaylord will entertain us with her music and we look forward to seeing your moves out there on the street dance floor!
Special thanks to Kim Grazier, Dee Meeks, and Kevin Hogue for donating funds for this dance and making it possible.
During the dance First Baptist Oologah will be giving away hot dogs and drinks while Harbor Church will keep their coffee shop open as well as El Gavan for your convenience. Also, Mustang Mini Mart has agreed to stay open for the festivities as well. Please, come on out and join us on May 29th for your return of Pioneer Days celebration!
