I attended the RSU Fundraising Scholarship Breakfast on Friday. It was great to see so many businesses and community leaders in attendance supporting the students that are attending the university. We were privileged enough to sit at a table with one of the scholarship recipients, Hunter Nixon, from Chelsea. He is majoring in nursing. He spoke with so much appreciation for the financial support he is receiving. His aspirations after graduation include the opportunity to travel before deciding where to settle.
Over and over during the breakfast— from Lou Flanagan RSU Foundation chair, to Dr. Larry Rice, RSU President and from a student who spoke—we were reminded the scholarship program is benefiting many who would not otherwise have a chance to attend college.
I am proud of our "School on the Hill" and hope we can all continue to support the fundraising efforts required to help many within our region.
This weekend is the RSU Homecoming and I hope everyone joins in on the celebration.
