During a September journey following the Oregon Trail, we made a slight detour in southeast Nebraska to visit Homestead National Monument of America. We had toured this unit of the National Park Service on two previous occasions. Each visit was educational and the national monument wasn’t far off the path of our drive from Topeka, Kansas, to Kearney, Nebraska.

As part of their Cultural Enrichment State Goals, members of the Oowala Home and Community Education (OHCE) group recently met and spent the day at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum Birthplace Ranch in Oologah.

After numerous drives through Mobile, Alabama, on Interstate 10, a few years ago we stopped for several days to explore the city. As is often the case during a first visit to a city, we were surprised at the number and variety of offerings of interest to visitors. We were able to gain a good overview of Mobile, but several places were of particular interest and we decided that someday we would return.
