TULSA — The Claremore girls and boys track and field team brought home five gold medals along with some outstanding performances from the 8th Annual Hornets Track Classic Friday at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa.

Earning those first-place medals were the girls 800-meter relay team, which edged Tulsa Rogers by approximately a half second with a time of 1:49.26. Also, the girls 1600-meter relay team won by nine seconds with a time of 4:16.08. The 400-meter relay team finished second in 51.16 and the 3200-meter relay team took third in 10:49.82.

The girls 3200-meter run was dominated by Lady Zebras. Katelyn Alexander won easily with a time of 12:06.22. She finished 15 seconds ahead of teammate and two-time state cross country champion Laynie Nichols, who finished second in 12:21.31. Gloria Butts finished seventh and Bailey Pritchett was ninth.

Alexander also finished second in the 800 meters in 2:23.59.

Jazymne Hoke was runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.38. She also took third place in the high jump with a clearance of 4-8.

Kacey Holt earned two throwing medals. She took second in the discus with a throw of 119 feet and finished third in the shot put with a distance of 35-10.

For the boys, Jack Vincent won the 800 meters in 2:00.16. He also was runner-up in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:00.81.

Ethan Shires nipped Davyon Caddell of Tulsa Memorial in the 300-meter hurdles with a clocking of 43 seconds. Caddell finished in 43.34. Claremore's Colbie Smith finished fourth in 43.83.

The boys 1600-meter relay took third place in 3:36.09.

Coby Williams finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 45-6.

Claremore will now compete at the Muskogee Invitational at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
