The Rogers State Men's Golf team and coach Steven Brown recently announced the signing of William Barnak for the 2020-21 signee class.
Barnak joins the Hillcats from Parkland College in Champaign, Ill. Prior to his time at Parkland, Barnak was a part of the golf team at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan.
"The more I spoke with William Barnak, the more I wanted him to be on this team," Brown said. "By all accounts, William is a talented, hard-working player who has shown he can play at a high level and be a great teammate."
While at Barton Community College, Barnak had five top-10 finishes and three top-five finishes. Barnak had a second-place finish at the Barton Invite, which helped his team win the invitational.
A native of Humlebaek, Denmark, Barnak was a part of the Espergaerde Gymnasium during his high school career. During that time, Barnak placed first in the 2016 Junior Cup National Championship and second at the Scandinavian Open. He was also selected to the Danish National team in 2016.
"It's one thing to talk to a recruit who wants to play golf in college," Brown said. "It's entirely different when that recruit understands the ambitions of the program and expresses a sincere desire to be a part of it. William gets what our goals are here as a team, and I am confident he will be a great asset to this program."
Barnak had a tournament-low score of 69 and an average of 74.8 during his time at Espergaerde Gymnasium.
Barnak is one of six commits for the Hillcat golf team for the 2020-21 signee class.
